SCARS AND WOUNDS OF WAR FROM THE AFFECTED POPULATION AT GRASSROOTS- BIHAPH-CFLI Initiative breaking the silence, listening to stories of pain, suffering from victims of violence and brutality-Voices of brokenness, Horrors! Sadness! Pains! Survival! Resil
Horrors! Sadness! Pains! Survival! Resilience and Hope at MENDAKWE PALACE - Bamenda. The Dark Side of our species and the banality of evil in the ongoing armed conflict in the English Speaking Regions of Cameroon.
Tears ran down the eyes of the members of the BIHAPH PEACE CARAVAN and members of the Mendankwe community as they listened to the victims of the armed conflict tell their stories…
It was a moment of bitter truths about our humanity full of overwhelming shock, shame and sadness in the face of so much loss and destruction.
The horror and sadness of it all. The things that people in the same communities are capable of doing to each other and our collective silence.
The cruelty of mankind in the last six years has witnessed Men women and children being tortured, injured, brutalized and killed on a daily bases by fellow community members and by those called to protect them.
Tears ran down the eyes of some of the members of the BIHAPH PEACE CARAVAN and members of the Mendankwe community as some of the victims told their stories of unimaginable suffering.
The big question we ask ourselves is, What can we do more in the face of this near human disaster ?
BIHAPH with support from the Canadian Fund for Local Initiative ( CFLI) is working tirelessly to bring some hope, support, and basic services to these fragile communities. We are against all risks and setbacks trying to creat the space, the conversation and support systems to help people to cope with the awful things happening to them.
With Our Trauma Healing sessions and community participatory approach to peace building, we have come to produce the most inspiring people, the brightest source of hope, the true models of resolve and embodiment of love and kindness in the communities. It is at this edge where we have found the light in the darkness.
It is these people who are the foundation stones for change and actions towards something different, something better. They remind us of what is possible even in the face of so much resistance and together we join our voices to say PEACE IS POSSIBLE.
